Project Description
Doster complex addition and renovation to Birmingham’s first steel frame high rise.
Doster performed a ten-story renovation and a two-story addition to the existing Woodward building in downtown Birmingham. Completed in 1902, the Woodward Building was Birmingham’s first steel frame high-rise and was one of the four buildings that made up the “heaviest corner on earth” at that time. The 100,000 square foot building was reworked to serve as the corporate headquarters office space for the National Bank of Commerce, and included a corporate dining facility on the tenth floor.
